The Rev. Dr. Eric Liles has been called as the new Associate for Formation. He will lead all of the church’s formation programs including Adult, Youth, and Children and Family ministries. Eric is a 1999 graduate of Texas A&M, a 2007 graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, and received his Doctor of Ministry from the University of the South – Sewanee in 2015. Eric has served churches in Austin and Alabama, and for the past five years has been Rector of St. Paul’s in Ivy, Virginia. Eric will begin his ministry at Saint Michael on August 15.
Eric’s vision and energy will be greatly appreciated with our growing Formation Department. He said recently, “I believe that after worship, lifelong Christian formation is the most important thing we do as followers of Jesus. We are all on a journey of growth and discovery of what is means to be disciples.” Vicar Bill Murray is excited about the hire, “Eric brings a great deal of experience to this position. He served as a youth minister as well as teaching at every stop in his ministry. He knows churches and he knows how to grow them. We can’t wait to see what Eric will do at Saint Michael!”
Eric is married to the Rev. Allison Liles. They have two children, Hill and Pailet, and a dog. Eric enjoys cycling, golf, hiking, other outdoor activities, and plays guitar. He is also an Eagle Scout. Eric will begin his ministry on August 15.
