Congregational Care is the umbrella organization and steering committee for the Good Shepherd Ministry, Welcome Ministry, Extended Care Cooks, and the Funeral Reception Guild. The chairs of each of these committees as well as the designated staff and vestry liaison meet monthly.
Good Shepherd Ministry
The Good Shepherd Ministry is a ministry of presence, communication, and caring. Each of us is asked to be a channel of Christ’s love by responding to the needs of others and by creating a sense of community. Thus, the parish has been geographically divided into neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has a Good Shepherd who wants to respond to the needs of parishioners in that area — sharing not only in the good times but also in times of need by caring for parishioners when they are ill and giving help and hope when the unexpected happens. The area number for your Good Shepherd neighborhood is listed for each parishioner in the parish directory following the zip code, e.g.
Extended Care Cooks
Extended Care Cooks provide a home-cooked meal each Thursday to parishioners who are in a crisis situation. Volunteers serve approximately twice a year on a rotating schedule.
The Funeral Reception Guild
These incredible volunteers lovingly put together funeral receptions held at Saint Michael. The Guild delivers baked-goods to the church, and the Reception Committee decorates tables so that family members can receive friends and family in the parlor after funeral and memorial services.
