Saint Michael Woman's Exchange

The St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange is a highly successful specialty gift shop located in Highland Park Village.  Featuring a well-edited selection of gifts and stationery for all occasions — and for the home, babies and children, weddings and birthdays, hostesses, and friends — The Exchange has served the community as a unique “retail ministry” for more than 50 years. 

Staffed almost exclusively by more than 120 volunteers — the buyers, the cashiers, the sales staff, and gift wrappers — The Exchange contributes its annual proceeds (as high as $500,000 recently) to the Women of Saint Michael’s Grants Committee for distribution via approximately 75 charitable grants to nonprofit agencies and organizations serving those in need.  For this sustained outreach effort, the WOSM received the 2009 Angel of Freedom Award from the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas.  In the words of the tribute, the Award recognized our ability to make “a difference in the lives of many people living in North Texas” by showing that “someone cares.”

The Exchange carries pieces from every collection — bowls, candles, trays, vases, tea sets, candelabras, holiday ornaments, and even special order hardware for the home. According to Judy Russell, a veteran volunteer buyer for the Exchange, the Michael Aram line is the store’s most popular. “Our customers delight in Michael’s iconic designs — a pear, a fig leaf, an olive branch, the black orchid — and appreciate the unique combination of utility and artistry his work represents. They truly seem to value both his respect for ancient craftsmanship and the creative contemporary interpretation he brings to each piece.” The Michael Aram line is exclusive to St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange in the Village.
