We only had members of the Adult Ed. Listening Steering Committee present.

The first part of our discussion was on how to get the word out about the upcoming listening sessions: one June 16 at Joyce and Blake Hull's and one June 21 at Karen Prothro's. Cullum said he had requested that a notice go out to all the congregation. This has been done through the Sunday News and with a blast e-mail. It was also suggested that we get a list of those couples and singles who have joined in the last three years and specifically target them.

The rest of the discussion centered on the Singles Ministry at SMAA. Tom Bowen reported that his budget for singles is only $500 for this year. He was told that when there was a significant ministry, more monies would be allocated. The group proposed an attitude rather of "if we build it they will come.” Approximately 1/3 of the population in a 8 mile radius is single. From 20-30% of SMAA is single (estimate). The group assented that it would be a good thing for SMAA to have a strong singles group, both for those older and particularly for those in their 20's ans 30's.
