VESTRY REPORT
Saint Michael and All Angels
Town Hall Meetings:
- The purpose of the
Town Hall Meeting is for the Vestry to give updates on activities and to
provide an opportunity for the parish to ask questions and provide input.
- To date, three other
Town Hall Meetings are scheduled: May 14, 2006, September 17, 2006, and
December 17, 2006.
Annual Meeting of
the Parish
- The Annual Parish Meeting
of the parish will be held on February 12, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. At that
time the traditional report on the events that have taken place over the
past year will be presented.
- New members of the Vestry
will be elected to begin a three year term.
- Delegates to the
Diocesan Convention will be elected.
Nominating
Committee
- One of the items on
the agenda for the January Vestry meeting will be the report of the
nomination committee to elect new members of the Vestry and delegates to
the Diocesan Convention.
- Vestry nominations
are governed by current bylaws which are posted on the website. As has
been reported, George Coleman is directing a task force to study
governance which includes elections procedures. Until that task force
completes its recommendations, the nominating committee is bound by
current bylaws.
- Under current bylaws
the nominating committee is to be composed of the five members of the
vestry who are serving their third term. Four members are appointed at
large from the Parish Council by the current Senior Warden, three members
at large are appointed for one year and one member is appointed by the
Senior Warden to serve two years. The nominating committee presents its
report of the nominations for the five new members of the Vestry at the
meeting of the Vestry preceding the annual members of the Vestry.

- 21 candidates have
been nominated to serve on the Vestry
- 25 candidates have
been nominated to serve as Diocesan Delegates
Capital Campaign
- The parish is
currently in the quiet phase of a Capital Campaign to raise the money to
purchase the apartments to the north of the church.
- There is a handout
available which answers questions regarding this effort.
- In order not to
compete which ongoing stewardship efforts, the leadership of the campaign
is waiting to go public on February 1, 2006 when a parish wide event will
be held. All members of the parish should have received a “save the date”
notice of this event.
- C.A. and Sylvia Rundell are chairing the Capital
Campaign and Rita and Bill Clements are serving as honorary chairs.
Strategic Planning
- Two members of the
current Vestry have served as members of the Strategic Planning Committee.
- The Wardens and Treasurer
have attended the follow up sessions in order to hear recommendations of this
group.
Outreach Study
- A study is being
conducted by Allen Lassiter to determine how much money is actually being
donated by the parish to outreach.
- Preliminary numbers
show that a minimum of $2,414,000.00 was given by the parish to outreach
efforts in 2005.
