Meditations
“Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 5:19-20
TO RETURN TO MAIN STEWARDSHIP PAGE
Our theme for 2012 Stewardship is "Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow," and we have much for which we are thankful. Your generous and continued support throughout 2011 has enabled our church to reach a vast array of families and individuals in our parish and surrounding community by way of Pastoral Care, Early Childhood Ministry, Children & Family Ministries, Adult Education, and Mission and Outreach locally and around the world. We ask that you consider, meditate, and pray about how God would like for you to share your blessings throughout 2012.
Our Gift
Imagine for a moment a very close friend — someone who has been there for you through all of life’s events: births, deaths, weddings, travels, and travails. Imagine that it is his birthday and you’ve found the perfect gift, but it is just beyond what you would normally spend for such an occasion. You think carefully about what the friend means to you — about how your gift returns to him the love you’ve shared, and you joyfully make that purchase. Your fellow parishioners are the church and that friend.
Our Faith
Everyone makes decisions in different ways. Rarely is there enough information to make a “perfect decision” with known results. After gathering information, giving some consideration to the logical and the probable, calling on ones’ feelings, intuition, and spirit, at the end, you need a small leap of faith.
Please consider that your church, Saint Michael and All Angels, fills many roles for you, your family, fellow parishioners, your local community, and distant communities through outreach and missions. You can gather, analyze, consider, and pray over great volumes of information about planning, budgets, and where funds are directed by the church. In the end, you have to decide, “Do you have faith in the church? Have you seen the good works of the church in your own life and the lives of others?” What will it take for the church to earn your faith — for you to pledge and return to God the resources available to you?
Our Legacy
Many consider stewardship as giving to sustain the church — to keep the building maintained, the lights glowing, and the coffee hot. But it is so much more than that. Our legacy is the many parishioners who receive a visit at home or in the hospital from a priest; it is the thousands who share holy communion at our Easter or Christmas alter; it is the children at Jubilee who see a brighter future through the gifts of time and treasure from our parish; it is the children educated about God’s love in Sunday School; it is the homeless person who receives a meal; it is the teenager who has a safe place to hang out after school in our Youth Center. It is all these things and so much more, but none of them would be possible without your gifts of stewardship.
Please continue to be a part of our legacy at Saint Michael and All Angels by increasing your pledge to our blessed parish.
Membership
We cannot consider ourselves truly to be members of Saint Michael and All Angels if we do not participate fully in the life of our church. This includes making a sacrificial gift to the Lord through our parish. When we give each year to Saint Michael, we not only act like members of our church by ensuring that it has the funds to operate, but we also are good stewards of the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed on each of us.
