Community Life Ministries
The VIPs are Very Important Persons age 55 and above. Saint Michael recognizes the growing population of older adults with lively programs primarily concerned with the quality of life. The regular monthly meetings are held on the First Thursday of each month. These meetings are focused on seniors with a wide variety of subjects and interests, a meal, and spirited friendship. On the third Thursday, there is some type of adventure away from the church building, such as a cultural or recreational activity.
Check out our upcoming events schedule and come join us!
Chimney Sweepers: For those who have lost a loved one.
The Brotherhood of Saint Andrew: The Brotherhood of Saint Andrew is a 100 year old Episcopal Church Men's Organization with an active chapter in our parish.
The Saturday Morning Chapter meets the first and third Saturday mornings of each month at 8:30am for the purpose of bible study, prayer, service projects for the Diocese and Parish, and visitations to the ill. New members or visitors are welcome at any meeting. To learn more, please contact Bill Archer at: bill@billarcher.net.
Cursillo: If you are ready for your next step in building a closer relationship with God, Cursillo may be for you. Hundreds of Saint Michael and All Angels parishioners have attended a 3-day Cursillo weekend. We invite you to join us on one of the five weekends in 2006. Attendance at each weekend is limited to six participants from Saint Michael. There will be a total of about twenty-five participants from throughout the Diocese.
At Cursillo the teachings of Jesus are discussed in a climate of joy and friendship. The schedule is interspersed with recreation, laughter, songs, and moments of reflection and silence. Most participants consider Cursillo a significant catalyst for their spiritual growth. To learn more about Cursillo, please contact Bill McGannon at: bill@mcgs.com.
Kairos: Kairos is a prison ministry for maximum security prisons. State studies show it has reduced the recidivism rate by over 50%. In addition, it has reduced prison violence and is bringing Christ and hope to these forgotten men. In most prisons there is a 3-4 year waiting list just to get into the program. To learn more about this ministry, please contact Don Buckroyd at DonBuckroyd@themayfairpage.com Volunteers are needed!
MSG (Men's Small Groups): Is there a connection between what you hear and say on Sunday mornings in church with your job or endeavors on Monday mornings and the rest of the week?
Saint Michael and All Angels offers and encourages men to gather once a week in a small group (10-12 guys) to discuss how the scripture lesson for the week can and does impact our life. No fancy theology here. Just dialog between guys to find out what the weekly scripture has to say about every day life in Dallas, Texas in 2006.
Men of Saint Michael: The Men of Saint Michael is an informal organization whose aim is to bring men into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. It is the umbrella organization that coordinates men's activities at Saint Michael and All Angels; fellowship, study, and groups that work together to deepen men's relationship with their families, with other men of the church and their personal relationship with God.
