We strive to provide Education that is Christ-centered according to Scripture, Tradition, and Reason, laying a platform in which families can deepen their faith in Jesus Christ.

We aim to build a community in Christ that helps nurture young families, that offers fellowship for children, and provides tools for families to navigate through their lives. Our community also participates in activities including picnics and service projects.

We seek to engage parental volunteers who are well trained, spiritually fed, enthusiastic, and dedicated to working with children in the programs of Children and Family Ministry, including Sunday School, The Edge (Fourth and Fifth Grade fellowship and service group), Make a Joyful Noise, and Vacation Bible School.

Along with youth ministry, children’s programs are clearly a crucial element in many of our parishioners’ decisions regarding attendance at church and participation in the life of our parish. The two main challenges facing our children’s Sunday School program – one of the largest in the Episcopal Church – are, first, recruiting, training, and retaining sufficient numbers of qualified and enthusiastic volunteer teachers, and, second, providing high-energy programming that attracts children to church.

Our new program for fourth and fifth graders, The Edge, is thriving. We intend to expand on this success, both through increased funding and through development of a comparable third grade program. Our listening sessions also indicated growing demand for well-structured outreach opportunities for families with younger children.

These two programs are among our best received and most successful. We should celebrate and build on them.

We heard frequently in our listening sessions that young people relate to church and spirituality in large measure through music. Many of our families strongly desire a broader children and youth music program. We conclude that our parish should employ a Children / Youth Music Director, perhaps part-time, to develop a variety of relevant, high-energy programming that brings music fully into the developing spiritual lives of our children.

Our parish has for some time expressed a demand for more educational programs on life skills for both children and parents. We aim to develop offerings addressing such topics as bullying, effective communication, relationships, sex, drugs and alcohol, as well as parenting skills for individuals of various life circumstances, including parents who are single, working, or stay-at-home.
