Dear Friends,
Welcome to Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Dallas, Texas! This is a fun, faithful, and energetic body of persons whose mission is to build some measure of the Kingdom of God through the power of Almighty God, the love of Jesus Christ, and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. In attempting to explain to you some of who we are, consider one of the finest sermons ever experienced, apart from the "Sermon on the Mount"! It was preached by the Right Reverend John T. Hines, the former Bishop of Texas, and Presiding Bishop of our Episcopal Church. | |
Paraphrasing Bishop Hines:
Some are dull, commonplace,
difficult to move
and unlikely to move others.
Some are fragile,
rising and falling at
the good fortune that may or may
not be theirs.
Some are simply shallow. They
polish and manicure themselves, but
there is a superficiality to their nature
and not much beneath the surface.
Some parishes have retired. They
exist on their pensions and the
memories of how things used to be.
But in reality, they are simply tired,
worn out.
 | We deeply believe that Saint Michael has been, from its inception some fifty years ago in a library at Southern Methodist University, the kind of parish that has always been willing to be about the business of deliberately questing, questing in the name of Christ. In its worship, pastoral care, educational ministries, evangelism, parish life and outreach/mission efforts, it attests to a vitality and commitment that seeks to be worthy of Jesus Christ and His love story. |
We warmly welcome your interest, and hope that you will come to know us in our common life together.
May the peace of the Lord be always with you.
