MORE ABOUT THE REV. CHUCK TREADWELL
Chuck grew up in South Carolina, Georgia, and Kentucky in a loving family full of Baptist clergy. He attended Georgetown College, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1982. Chuck moved to Texas to work at a residential treatment center for therapeutic treatment center for teenagers. He met his wife, Chris, a nursing student at U.T.A., at a health club (a chique 80’s couple!) who introduced him to the Episcopal Church. They married in 1985, the same year he was confirmed.
With the zeal of a convert, Chuck went to seminary at the University of the South in Sewanee, TN. After graduating in 1989, Chuck was ordained a deacon at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Dallas that same year. His first clergy position was at St. Michael and All Angels, Dallas, where he was ordained a priest. While there, he served as a curate and priest to Young Single Adults, and later, as the School Chaplain. In 1993, Father Chuck dove headlong into being a rector for the first time at St. Peter’s in McKinney, TX. Eleven years later, he moved to Waco to be the rector of St. Paul’s, where he began serving in July 2004. On Palm Sunday, March 29, 2016, Chuck began serving as the 14th rector of St. David’s in Austin.
In the spring of 2014, Father Chuck completed a Doctor of Ministry from Sewanee. Along with his regular duties, Father Chuck has served in various capacities in Diocesan ministry. For nearly a decade he has served as co-facilitator for “Curate Camp”, a diocesan ministry for newly ordained clergy. Many of the Curates in this program served at St. David’s.
Father Chuck and Chris have three children. Caleb, Colton, and Caroline. With the time not committed to family and the priesthood, Father Chuck is an avid hunter, hiker, fisherman, and guitar player.
