Amistad Bolivia Youth Mission Trip | Day 2
July 30, 2024
Today was an absolutely beautiful day for our team in so many ways. We started with breakfast filled with all sorts of local breads, fruit and cereals to get us ready for the kids at Amistad. We then headed to the Villa where we joined the morning children and the mama’s, the tia’s, and the staff at their chapel service. Some of the children go to school in the morning and we were with the ones who go in the afternoon. We heard a lovely sermon on forgiving others before a long-term estrangement can set in. The Amistad staff and children also sang songs for us. We then sang and taught them Esta Lucita Brita (This Little Light of Mine) in Spanish—with hand motions of course! The team next introduced themselves, before we all headed out to do arts and crafts together. We made mosaic crosses with the children. As always in any kind of art projects with children, we found you can never have too many stones and sparkles for decorating!
After lunch, we took Mama Jimena and our Casa Esperanza kids (Aylin, Mati, and Ezekiel) to buy plants for the Villa Community Garden and for their house. We will plant these together later in the week. When we returned to the Villa, we were greeted by many of the other children. Our youth then played a very interesting version of basketball with them in the gym. The little 3 feet tall boys are fearless and not intimidated at all by our tall youth. We then watched a beautiful sunset before dinner. It is 56 degrees now, going down to 45 degrees!
In the mornings we begin with prayers, and we end our evenings with Compline. Please keep us in your prayers—you are in ours!
Blessings of joy and peace this day!
