Amistad Bolivia Youth Mission Trip | Day 6
August 3, 2024
The last full day has come and gone! This morning we had the great opportunity to worship at one of the local Catholic Churches of Cochabamba, Our Lady of Guadalupe. The children, Mama, and Tía from Casa Esperanza joined us for worship and we were able to reflect on all the similarities and differences of worship in other countries.
We then spent the remainder of the day at the Villa Amistad with more than 70 children from all the houses on the property. We hosted a barbecue, grilled burgers and made smores, we planted a new garden for Casa Esperanza, we played soccer and basketball, we painted ceramics, tie-dyed shirts, and passed out birthday gifts for all the children in our house… You could say we did it all! It was so rewarding spending the whole day with all the children with whom we have developed such deep relationships. Tomorrow there are sure to be a few tearful goodbyes, but we can rest assured that these friendships and memories will last a lifetime.
At dinner tonight each of our youth shared their favorite moments of the week and their big takeaways from the trip. Although they each day had their own perspective, nearly every student reflected on the power of relationships and love displayed so readily at Amistad. Once we return, I encourage you to ask our youth for their stories. You will not be disappointed!
Tomorrow we head to Peru for a day and a half on the way home to Dallas! Please keep us in your prayers as we hold you in ours.
Peace,
–Sam
