Whom We Seek:
Saint Michael and All Angels, one of the largest Episcopal churches in the United States, seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant for Music. The role of the Assistant for Music is to ensure the smooth operation of the church’s music ministry. As such, the Assistant is intended to administratively support and be at the heart of the music program’s growth and function. The music program provides music for some 200 services a year, and now includes a multi-choir chorister program for children from pre-K through high school in the English cathedral tradition and affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music, the adult choir, and professional Compline Choir (with its own assistant).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure smooth running of the music program
- Work collaboratively with other music staff (3 full-time, 1 part-time) and church staff
- Oversee the music program’s business operations
- Oversee listing all music program events in church calendaring system
- Oversee the smooth functioning and organization of the music library
- Serve as the first contact for choir parents outside of rehearsal
- Oversee choir attendance and scheduling of substitute staff singers
- Administration of summer choir camps, choir tours, and other special choir events
- Assistance with chorister recruitment
- Develop and maintain records of repertoire and choir rosters
- Oversee readiness of rehearsal spaces, and assist with set up as needed
- Oversee the creation of choir schedules
- Assist with chorister rehearsals, training, and behind-the-scenes interactions as needed
- Assist in the operation of the Saint Michael Presents concert series as needed
- Record live webcast music under copyright with appropriate licensing (new 2022)
- Provide lunch coverage for the church receptionist approximately 3 times per month

- Have expertise with office computer software, e.g. Microsoft Productivity Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Zoom, etc.
- Have fluency in social media
- Be enthusiastic for music program growth
- Hold confidentiality
Core Competencies:
- Administrative leadership
- Knowledge of sacred music repertoire and ability to read music
- Familiarity with Dallas area schools
- Experience in a liturgical church
