Reports to: Director of Formation
Work Hours: Full-Time (Including Weekends)
Whom We Seek:
A veteran leader and committed follower of Jesus Christ to provide adaptive leadership and departmental oversight to the Children and Family Ministry (birth–5th Grade) to build faith, form disciples of Jesus Christ and equip parents to disciple their children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pray regularly for the children and young families of Saint Michael and provide pastoral care and guidance in collaboration with other ministries
- Develop a clearly defined vision and strategy for Formation within the Children and Family Ministry (CFM)
- A departmental leader who hires, trains, and supervises all staff in the CFM department
- Develop and implement strategy for whole-family discipleship; working with families to equip and empower parents/families to disciple their children
- Lead, manage and hold accountable the CFM Leadership Team consisting of key committed and gifted volunteers
- Provide oversight and planning for all aspects of CFM programming, including: Children’s Chapel, Sunday Formation Hour, Vacation Bible School and other midweek events as well as family fellowship, seasonal special events, outreach events and other new events developed
- Recruit, lead, and train people to serve in CFM
- Collaborate with Youth Ministry, Adult Formation, and other program staff regarding Formation including a meaningful and effective transition experience for students and parents from CFM to Youth Ministry
- Collaborate with the Music Department in all aspects of the Cherub Choir
- Work collaboratively with all SMAA and Saint Michael Episcopal School (SMES) staff to incorporate SMES families into the life of Saint Michael
- Oversee the purchase, distribution, and use of all equipment and supplies (curriculum, snacks, art supplies, etc.)
- Develop and maintain the CFM budget and help develop the budgetary needs for upcoming years
- Coordinate marketing with Communication Department through website, bulletins, social media, print, and direct email communications to the families
- Cultivate relationships with families and implement a consistent means of follow-up
- Work with Director of Operations to communicate Safe Church policy to all CFM staff and volunteers, regularly evaluating its implementation and take necessary steps to improve

- Minimum of five years of experience in leading Children’s Ministry in a large church or similar experience, with proven growth
- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
- Satisfactory completion of a background check and training in Safe Church

- Salary range: $65,000 - 80,000*
- *Pay will be negotiated based on level of experience, qualifications, and applicable skills
