Work Hours: Full-Time (including some Sundays)
The Director of Facilities oversees the physical plant operations of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church (SMAA) and Saint Michael Episcopal School (SMES). This role will work with leadership to determine short and long-term goals for the facilities department, project management/construction of the facilities, and oversight of personnel and systems providing for the safety, comfort, security, maintenance, cleaning, setup/takedown, and grounds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversight of the Assistant Director of Facilities, Sextons, Contractors, and Subcontractors
- Oversee all life safety/fire protection, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and grounds to ensure compliance with relevant city, state, and national codes, benchmarks, and best practices.
- Fully implement all standard operating procedures, including a preventative maintenance schedule and log
- Develop, supervise, and implement emergency response and security protocols for property and life
- Develop and conduct training programs to train the Facilities team in the installation, programming, safety, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment
- Provide support for all maintenance and construction projects
- Manage vendor relationships; regularly review and negotiate new contracts
- Provide church leaders with all relevant building operations and maintenance reporting for sound decision-making
- Assure grounds are manicured and in good order at all times
- Maintain the indoor and outdoor Columbariums
- Serve as a resource for the staff regarding building operations and maintenance
- Advise, support, and respond to the Building and Grounds Committee
- Maintain Safeguarding requirements that ensure a âsafe churchâ environment for all persons, especially children, youth, and vulnerable persons
- Produce and manage an annual budget for Facilities to serve the needs of SMAA
- Maintain operational support of SMES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Must possess a thorough working knowledge of building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life safety/fire protection systems.
- Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and codes
- Thorough understanding of automation systems such as HVAC, security, life safety/fire protection systems
- The skills necessary for employee/contractor supervision, budget and expenditure responsibility, and productive relationships with clergy, staff, employees, volunteers, and parishioners
- Highly organized and comfortable with the Microsoft productivity suite and other software applications used by the church
- Non-anxious in a fast-paced, complex large church system
- Ability and desire to work with and across ministry areas
- High degree of confidentiality and ability to exercise mature judgment and discretion with sensitivity to the needs of others
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position has significant physical demands, requiring the candidate to be able to work, move, stand, and sit for long periods. In addition to the other qualifications listed in this job description, the candidate must be able to lift and move 50 lbs. and work on a ladder reaching the second story of our building.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The duties of this position will require the Director of Facilities to be near moving mechanical parts, electricity, solvents, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather, loud noises, etc.
