Ministry: Youth Ministry
Reports to: Director of Youth Ministry (DYM)
Purpose: To assist in the planning, organization, and leadership of youth ministry activities at Saint Michael. To foster an environment in which youth are encouraged to be themselves as God created them; develop spiritually; serve each other and the community; build trusting relationships; and feel at home in the church. To share one’s faith with others and share God’s story and what we believe as Episcopalians.
Responsibilities:
- Complete Safeguarding God’s Children training for the protection and safety of the youth and yourself; respect these guidelines at all times
- Develop personal relationships with youth and help to create a welcoming and inclusive culture
- Meet with the DYM regularly for planning purposes and spiritual enrichment
- Attend Sunday morning worship regularly
- Work cohesively with the youth Sunday School teacher team and teach or assist on Sunday mornings; spend time prior to your teaching session in preparation
- Participate in the planning and implementation of Sunday evening activities, including gathering/purchasing supplies and arriving at least 30 minutes early to welcome the youth
- Leading a weekly small group meeting, time and days will depend on the group
- Other tasks at the direction of the DYM
Time Commitment:
- Sunday Mornings
- 1 worship service, either 9 a.m. or 11 a.m.
- Formation hour 10-11 a.m.
- Sunday Afternoons
- Youth Group Activities
- Times might vary from week to week

- Associate Priest for Formation and Director of Youth Ministry, who are available for support, consultation, problem solving, and cooperative leadership
- Curriculum materials and supplies for teaching
- A calendar for the semester of youth activities and special church-related events
