Youth Mission Week 2024 by Samuel Moore

Youth Mission Week was a great success this year! We were delighted to return to Stephen C. Foster Elementary School for a second year where we hosted a week-long camp for K-5th graders from Foster Elementary and the Bachman Lake community.

“During my week working at Foster Elementary as a camp counselor, I enjoyed hanging out with the kids. I loved doing fun activities and crafts with them. My favorite part of the whole week was getting to know and see the kids’ funny and sweet personalities.”

Our theme for the year was God’s Creation. Our youth worked as camp counselors leading the campers in arts and crafts, all kinds of games, and songs and dance. Each day, the Saint Michael Youth led Bible Skits and shared the creation narrative from Genesis as well as the parables of Jesus.

“Working at foster was really fun because I felt like I was able to bond with the kids in my group. I enjoyed getting to participate in all of the fun activities and helping the kids to have a fun time with us.”

From snake handling, to shaved ice, to the Ft. Worth Zoo, the week was full of laughter and fun. I am so proud of the compassion, grace, and energy our youth brought to their campers each day. We can’t wait for next year!

“Spending the week at Foster was fun because I was able to watch each of the kids in my group grow their relationship with Jesus. I was able to establish connections with each one of the kids in my group and it was amazing to watch how each of them opened up and grew their faith throughout the week.”
