For two-decades, Patrick Jenevein, author of Dancing with the Dragon, attempted to work fairly, forthrightly, and faithfully in a joint venture of building power plants and wind turbine blades with China’s state-controlled aviation and military behemoth AVIC. He was eventually betrayed by his Chinese partners, who had also become friends. He sought an amicable resolution, but the Communists played by their own rules, refusing to settle the dispute while also threatening him and his family. In court proceedings, his company prevailed…and actually collected on the judgment, a rare instance. Patrick will reflect on these experiences and on the current state of US-China relations and offers a roadmap for the critical coming years in how to deal with the dragon today and in the future.
