Faith and Practice Series – Adult Sunday Class

Current Study: “The Gift of Salvation”
Sundays, October 6 – November 10, 2024 @ 10 a.m.

What does it mean to be “saved”? Every time we say the Nicene Creed, we confess that Christ came “for us and for our salvation.” Similarly, our Eucharistic prayers indicate God appointed Jesus to be the “Savior and Redeemer of the world.” But do all Christians think about salvation in the same way? Can the way we understand salvation inform the way we live out our faith in daily life? This series will examine different ways Christians have sought to make sense of the experience of salvation, and will also identify some of the practical, day-to-day implications of various accounts of God’s gift of salvation.

Bible Series – Adult Sunday Class

Current Study: “30 Days to Understanding the Bible”
Sundays, October 6 – November 3, 2024 @ 10 a.m.
Led by Dr. Tim Smith

If you’ve ever confused the Ark of the Covenant with the Ark of Noah, or Jericho with Jeroboam, then this study is for you. Over four weeks, you’ll learntheoverarching story ofthescripture and the Bible’s key people and events, so that when you read the Bible you will get far more out of God’s Word. This class will lay a foundation to equip you to be able to read and understand scripture in a way you never have before. The cost of the book is just $10. This study will have an added twist: we will ask youtofind just 15 minutes a day to read through the week’s lesson. This will help you in the learning process, and is just a small investment of time for something that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

Current Study: “The Four Hats: Raising Extraordinarily Generous Kids”

Part of learning to follow Jesus involves following in the footsteps of his extraordinary generosity toward other people. Would you like help in raising extraordinarily generous kids? Join us for this series that will equip parents to talk with their kids about what the Bible says about money by simply getting them comfortable wearing four different financial “hats.” This will set them up for life-long financial success and spiritual generosity. In conjunction with the Class for Parents, the Parents Ministry hosts several social events throughout the year for our parent community. Parents with children of any age are welcome to join!

If you are new to Saint Michael and All Angels, would like to become more familiar with our mission and purpose, or would like to know how to become a member, this series is for you! Not only will this series introduce you to our many vibrant ministries, it will also provide you with an introduction to the Episcopal Church, our worship and the Book of Common Prayer, and other themes associated with Anglican faith and practice. This series provides an overview of our faith and how we seek to put our faith into action through praying, learning, serving, and giving.

This class is for our 8th-grade students who wish to deepen their commitment to their faith in preparation for confirmation in the fall of 2025. The class focuses on the teachings and traditions of the episcopal church, as well as biblical literacy and faith practices. Advanced registration is required for the 2024-2025 class.
