Youth Small Groups

New Youth Small Groups Launch Fall 2020

New Small Groups for Students in Grades 6-12 Have Launched!

In our new life of Covid, social distancing, and trying to keep meetings smaller groups of people, we want to make sure we are able to see youth in person rather than just online all the time. Right now we are in the process of placing youth into groups that fit their interests. Our current offerings are:

  • High School Girls Small Group - this groups meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7 a.m. at Taco Joint to talk through short devotions as well as share things going on in our lives. This is a great way to get to know more girls in youth group and grow in faith together.
  • Arts and Crafts - This group will have different creative projects throughout the year. All supplies provided! Meets on the first and third Sundays of the month from 4-5:30 p.m. Join us under the SMES porte cochere.
  • Outdoor Activities - From outside games to hikes around Dallas, this group will be enjoying the beauty of the outdoors while finding God in nature. Meets on the first and third Sundays of the month from 4-5:30 p.m. Join us under the SMES porte cochere.
  • New! Father/Son Small Group - Join Chase Monson and Eric Gilmour for a new small group for all high school young men and their fathers/male role models. During this small group we will discuss the book True Measure Of A Man by Richard E. Simmons III. This book study has shown wonderful success in our Men Of Saint Michael group and we think it would a great addition to our youth program. This small group started on January 24th from 6:30-8 p.m. up in the Youth Center and will run for 7 weeks (with a break for the Super Bowl on February 7). If you are interested in this small group please reach out the Chase Monson to get on the list. Space is limited!

Scheduling note: the arts and crafts and outdoor activities small groups will not meet on Easter Sunday, April 4.

Please email Chase or Tiffany with any questions.

Enneagram & Parenting

Wednesday, March 10, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

7-8 p.m. Via Zoom

Children raised in the same home with the same parents can have very different personalities.  This is because, regardless of environment, we are each born with a disposition toward our personalities.  And parents have their own personalities that impact how they parent. Enneagram & Parenting looks at each of nine numbers and their tendencies and priorities that show up in parenting.  It also helps parents understand how their number may have compatibility or conflict with children who are different numbers.  The goal of the class is for us to understand ourselves and become better parents to our children regardless of their number. Completion of The Enneagram Journey class is required in order to participate in any Enneagram Intensive offering. For questions and registration, please contact Mary Lessmann at [email protected].

If you are new to Saint Michael, curious about the path to membership, or simply want to learn more about life at our parish community, we invite you to join us for two different class events we have throughout the year: "Saint Michael 101" is an introduction to life here at SMAA, and "Episcopal Christians", where we explore what it means to walk as a Christian in the Episcopal tradition, discussing topics like our Anglican heritage, worship, the Bible and formation etc.

Flowers in our holy worship spaces are a beautiful gift to God and those who attend services at Saint Michael as well as those being honored or remembered. A contribution to the Flower Fund is a meaningful way to honor or remember a loved one for special life events such as birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, confirmations, thanksgivings, or in memory of a loved one.

The Foundation of Saint Michael and All Angels is essential to the vitality, growth, stability and success of our parish. Its grants support the mission of the Parish, consistent with priorities established by the Vestry and the Rector.
