April 17, 2024

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support as we begin to see more evidence of construction on campus. These are tangible signs that we are building for the future, and all to the glory of God!

BUILDING OUR FUTURE: GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY
First, please join us on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, at 10 a.m. for a historic Building our Future: Groundbreaking Ceremony. Together, we will officially mark the beginning of the next chapter of Saint Michael’s great legacy as we lay the foundation for our future.

CONSTRUCTION IMPACTS
As we move from Phase 1A to Phase 1B, we will experience more changes to the structure of our campus and locations of our programming. Here is some of what you can expect:

CAMPUS CLOSURES
The first floor of the education wing is already closed for renovation. On May 1, the second floor of the education wing will close as well. Each affected group has been notified of its new meeting arrangements.

Over the past few months, the Bishop Moore Chapel and Narthex Prayer Chapel have been decommissioned and will be repurposed for the next two years while we are under construction. We invite you to join us in the Saint Michael Chapel for prayer and the Midweek Eucharist on Wednesdays from 12:30 – 1 p.m.

Please note on the Phase 1B-1 map that beginning in the middle of May, the West Entrance will be closed as we start to transform Saint Michael Episcopal School. On Sunday mornings, parishioners and visitors are invited to enter our campus through the Red Chapel Doors and the South Entrance along Colgate and the Church Entrance on Douglas. During the week, please visit us through the South Entrance on Colgate.

SUNDAY MORNING CLASS CHANGES
For this program year, the last day of Sunday morning classes on the second floor of the education wing is Sunday, April 21. Beginning Sunday, April 28, (1) Children & Family Ministry classes will take a break from April 28 to May 26; (2) Youth Confirmation will meet on Sunday mornings from April 28 to May 12 in the lobby of Saint Michael Episcopal School (SMES), but other youth classes will also take a break from April 28 to May 26; and (3) Adults will gather for one combined class in the Coke Room. On June 2, Sunday morning classes resume for all ages. All class locations are listed on our website at saintmichael.org/sunday.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
With limited space during the day due to construction, we’re hosting Vacation Bible School in the evenings. That way, we can use as much of the campus as possible and make this year’s event bigger and better than ever! Learn more and register at saintmichael.org/vbs24.

SAINT MICHAEL EPISCOPAL SCHOOL RENOVATION
May 15 is the last day of school for Saint Michael Episcopal School. We will be renovating and revitalizing SMES classrooms, with a planned reopening date of September 11, 2024.

SAINT MICHAEL STAFF MOVING
The Saint Michael staff are on the move. In December, the Operations team joined the Finance team in the office building at 8100 Lomo Alto. At the end of April, the Formation and Mission & Outreach teams will move, followed by the rest of the staff in June. Please note that on May 29, the church will be closed for an all-staff packing day to prepare for the office moves. Until the entire staff has relocated to the Lomo Alto office building, please check in with the receptionist at the South Entrance during the week if you are meeting with a staff member.
