Men of Saint Michael (MOSM)

The Men of Saint Michael

SUMMER BOOK STUDY

Wednesdays, June 8 - July 27
7-8 a.m. in Room 103
Led by Eric Gilmour

“Church is boring!” “It’s irrelevant!” “It’s full of hypocrites!” Christianity is the only world religion with a chronic shortage of men! Author David Murrow identifies the barriers to male participation in church and explains why it’s so hard to motivate the men who DO go. At the same time, we’ll consider our own motivations for attending church, both good and bad, and what we can do about it. Join the Men of Saint Michael for their Summer Book Study: “Why Men Hate Going to Church”. Breakfast tacos and coffee are served. Come join us and bring a friend for a candid conversation why men hate going to church and what we can do about it.

For questions, please contact Eric Gilmour.

ABOUT THE MOSM

The Men of Saint Michael is an informal group whose aim is to bring men into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. It is the umbrella organization that coordinates Men’s activities at our church: fellowship, study, and groups that work together to deepen men’s relationship with their families, with other men of the church, and their personal relationship with God.

Contact Dr. Tim Smith with any questions you may have, or more information.

Men's Lectionary Bible Study

Thursday, June 30, 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

Location: Online via Zoom - email David Loomis for a link.

This men's group meets to discuss the lessons for the current week from the Lectionary, exploring ways in which the passages speak to everyday life and our own spiritual journey. Lessons and commentary are emailed early each week to enable participants to familiarize themselves with the material. On a rotating basis, participants facilitate discussion by studying the lessons and reviewing available information on the subject.

Community Bible Study (for Men and Women)

Thursday, June 30, 9:15 AM - 10:30 AM

WHEN: Thursdays, 9:15-10:30 a.m.
WHERE: Online via Zoom
Led by Dr. Elizabeth Lang

This is a Bible study for men and women of all ages who wish to develop spiritually and intellectually and form new friendships. This year, we will be studying the epistles of Paul. We will read many letters leading up to and including Romans, on which we will spend the most time. There is no homework, just bring your mind, heart and questions to our exploration of the texts. We will deepen our understanding of Paul by examining the letters in their original context, and we will discuss their messages and meanings for today.

For questions or the Zoom link please contact Dr. Elizabeth Lang at [email protected].

If you are new to Saint Michael, curious about the path to membership, or simply want to learn more about life at our parish community, we invite you to join us for two different class events we have throughout the year: "Saint Michael 101" is an introduction to life here at SMAA, and "Episcopal Christians", where we explore what it means to walk as a Christian in the Episcopal tradition, discussing topics like our Anglican heritage, worship, the Bible and formation etc.

Give Now

Flowers in our holy worship spaces are a beautiful gift to God and those who attend services at Saint Michael as well as those being honored or remembered. A contribution to the Flower Fund is a meaningful way to honor or remember a loved one for special life events such as birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, confirmations, thanksgivings, or in memory of a loved one.

Flower Memorials

The Foundation of Saint Michael and All Angels is essential to the vitality, growth, stability and success of our parish. Its grants support the mission of the Parish, consistent with priorities established by the Vestry and the Rector.
